The Spirit Of Holiday Giving Reaches Tech For Africa

On December 15, 2010
The Technology For Africa Team arrived at Laurel Hill Elementary in Mount Pleasant to encounter classrooms of ecstatic children who were eager to hand over the 159 academic care packages they put together. The one gallon zip lock bags were stuffed to the brim with a seemingly endless supply of school supplies, books, toys and other childhood goodies. Many of the kids jumped at the chance to point out their knowledge of Cameroon's place on the map, as well as sharing many of their family connections to Africa. Every room visited, the TFA team was met head on by the purest and most sincere form of generosity and compassion my the children of tomorrow's future. The deepest thanks to the teachers, parents, and students at Laurel Hill for all of their help!

In addition to Laurel Hill's donations, we received College of Charleston jerseys and 20 soccer balls to bring with our many supplies to Cameroon!

Tech For Africa Teaming Up With Laurel Hill

October 27, 2011
Technology For Africa II will be teaming up with the elementary school, Laurel Hill, located in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina with hopes of connecting young students from all over the globe. Laurel Hill and it's bright inhabitants have agreed to donate and assemble school supplies into personal customized packages including letters, drawings and other mementos with the intentions of building global awareness and heartfelt connections between the youth of Cameroon and the United States. The packages will travel with the TFA group when they head to Cameroon in the Spring and given to each of the 150 students in the small countryside elementary. In response, we are planning on bringing those favors full circle and having each of the receiving students prepare a returning package with personalized notes and letters to further the communication and establish bonds that normally would not form, bringing us one step closer to the peace, understanding and compassion that this earth has been searching for.

Bake Sale #1

Monday: October 4, 2010
Kicking off our fundraising season, along with the help of fellow students, we tackled the College of Charleston campus with the high hopes, empty pockets and the best baked goods in town! We finished off the day with a jarful of donations, over $130.00 in dessert sales, and the first buzz of the project spreading throughout campus. Thank you so much to everyone who baked goodies to sell and everyone who came out to show their support! It was a small start, but every penny counts throughout this long and exciting journey.
